Okavango Delta, Botswana!

In the middle of the month i traveld up to Francistown, which driving North made me think of Masunga and like i was going home. Anyway, i went to the Delta with Reema and Stacie for the weekend. We had a great time, also a wet time, but it was just good to get away. The Okavango Delta is the largest inland detla in the world!! Which that is pretty amazing considering there is a huge desert very close by!

View of a village on the outskirts of the Delta as we fly over.

This was our little transport to and from Maun, village/town that we traveled to before we came to the Delta. Yeah, first time in a 5 seater plane!!!!

As soon as we landed we got into our next mode of transport for the weekend, which was a mokoro (dug out dung boats). Stacie leading the way as we cruse down the delta!!!

One day we got really up close to some zebra's as we where coming back from our game walk, in the mokoro's. Peek- a- boo, i see you!!!!

Reema and I decide to stand up to get a better view of the zebra's. Hum, not so easy to balance, but we made it!!

Oh yeah, isn't that awesome?!!

umm, pretty cool

Game Walks!

Since we where out in the Delta, there are no such thing as game drives because well there is hardly any land to drive on. So instead of jumping in the back of a truck we got to walk out through the bush and get up close and personal with the animals!!!

John, our guide, stands on this huge termite mound to look for game.

On our game walk, i did find some tracks made by some elephants coming out of the water. Boy, just think what size of shoe he must ware?!!!

We saw lots of zebra, my favorite animal. Come on just look at how creative God must be to come up with each unique pattern!

We also got to see some pretty rare Red Lechwe (deer like animal in the back) and some different birds.

The only big game we came across was this Buffalo skull!! It was soooo heavy, good thing the whole thing wasn't there!!!

Luxury vs. Bush Camping!

Ok, so we went to the Delta for two nights. So the first night we stayed at the camp ground, which was right by the water and and a pretty cool place to hang out. Although since we where at the camp site it did take us a little bit more time to get out and do our game walks. So Reema, and yes i'm pointing her out :) gets the bright idea that if we camp in the "bush" with the animals then we would have a better chance of seeing them. It was a good idea all except for .....the rain. To bad we where the only not smart animals out in the rain walking around!! hahaha... It really was fun and it does provide us with another story or two to tell!!

Reema and I all smiles inside our spacious tent that's on a platform OFF THE GROUND!

All 3 of us squeezed into the tiny little tent ON THE GROUND to the left of Reema.

This is our fully funcationing bathroom, just watch out for the warthog that likes to sleep in here and you're good to go!

What like the picture doesn't speak for it self?! Come on..... you can guess!! Posted by Picasa

The End!

I would have to say all in all that it was a very good trip. Yes, totally got scared flying in that little plane, and yes it did rain on us, yes there was the sound of the baby croc that one day while we where in our mokoro's, and yes Reema did make me "track" wild best in the rain.....but all of that just adds to the memories!!

Ladies Day Out!!

Last Saturday, we had a Ladies Day Out event for all the girls at UB. We had so much fun, totally doing girl stuff, sorry no boys allowed!! Our theme was Psalm 45:11 "The King is enthralled by your beauty." We went along the lines of women as the "crowning" glory of God's creation. So often women are be little and disreguarded in the public eye and unfortunatly a lot of girls grown up believing this. So this day was a day to grow in the way that Lord intended for us to blossom. To see as one of our male students said "be fashionable without being a slave to fashion", and seek filfullment in all areas of our lives. All in all it was a very good day, and i really think everyone had a wonderful time!! I know i did!!! Who wouldn't with girl talk, food, clothes, and tons of friends?!

All of our lovely Queen's!!

our center pieces for the table tops

All smiles as we get ready to learn how to live like a princess....a.k.a. be happy and fulfilled while you are single!

My green twin Viven! Every great queen thinks a like!!!

Class Time!

After lunch and our morning talk time, we headed into Queen training! Basically, we got to divide up into smaller groups and go to different sessions on ways to eat healthy, make jewelry, and get fit. Did you know that rice crispy's where healthy? Or that with a few beads and needle you could be styling like a real queen with all kinds of jewels? We also learned a few new moves that would get any lady in shape, but there are no pictures of such because Queen's glow and not sweat and we don't want to lead you to believe otherwise!! hahahaha....

Every Queen should always fest like a Queen! Kittie is giving us some tips on how feed our royal taste buds!

Like any Queen would be caught dead without her jewels!!!!

Queen for the Day!

What can i say? I always thought i should have a crown!!! hahahahaha.... KG (co-worker at student center) and i just played around with the crowns after the evening ended. We acutally drove through town with them on! When we caught a couple looking at us in the car next to ours, we gave them the favorable queen wave, which made us and them laugh out loud. I mean what else do you do when you have a crown on?!! It was a great day with the girls and we just wanted to carry on the fun!

A Queen's work is never done, but you do get to wear the crown, so there is always an up side as KG and I found out!

Farewell my good subjects!!
